Altius flags key appointments

Altius Asset Management, wholly owned by Australian Unity as of January, flagged two senior appointments and an open position in a June fund update.

First, Yen Wong has joined Altius as head of credit research. She was previously deputy head of global credit research, responsible investment champion and credit analyst at Colonial First State Global Asset Management.

Before CFSGAM, Wong was a portfolio manager at Commonwealth Investment Management and a quantitative analyst, equity strategies at Citigroup Asset Management.

Altius also appointed Jing Jia as an assistant portfolio manager. He came over from the investment team at Australian Unity, having previously been an investment DMV analyst at the Victorian Funds Management Corporation and an investment structure and valuation analyst at NAB.

Commenting on the appointments, Altius chief investment officer Bill Bovingdon said: "Reaching $100 million in funds under management is a significant achievement for the Sustainable Bond Fund, and we're growing the team to ensure we continue to augment this specialist area for our clients."

"We're building a team that can service the growing demand and continue to capture the upside of the bond market while avoiding returns less than cash in a volatile environment," he added.

Bovingdon also noted that Altius is currently recruiting for a credit analyst position.
