Global equities - winning by not losing
- Owning the winners is always much more exciting than avoiding the losers. Let's be honest: at a barbecue, no-one talks about the disaster stocks they didn't own. However, steering clear of the worst-performing stocks-the bottom 20%-is crucial to a successful investment strategy.
- In this discussion, we explore key financial metrics that can help identify companies which end up in the disaster zone, and just how impactful avoiding such losers is to investment returns.
- We make the case that owning quality businesses is the most durable path to wealth creation, and we discuss how we define and think about business quality.

Rethinking retirement income portfolios
- The Australian superannuation system is the envy of the world and yet it has concentrated on accumulation since inception.
- The changing legislative, demographic and social setting means that innovation in retirement income is here. A new era of retirement income solutions meets the evolving needs of Australian retirees and adds a broader set of innovative options available to financial advisers.
- In this session, we delve into providing certainty for clients and aligning new-age retirement strategies to meet the needs of an ageing population. We will use real-life case studies to help advisers understand the characteristics of these new-age solutions, how to apply them alongside existing retirement income strategies and the significant value added for clients in accumulation and retirement considering the dangerous decade leading up to retirement and beyond.
