"Deborah", I would say to you that there was a PDS provided to your daughter upon joining her fund, it is only 8 pages long and includes details of the insurance cover provided and how to 'opt out' if not needed. There was a periodical statement provided to your daughter at least once per year which showed every deduction made for the cost of insurance - it is not hidden. Just depends on whether your daughter wants to be informed. I'm guessing not.
