State Street IM Australian investments lead to retireBY KARREN VERGARA | FRIDAY, 24 JUL 2026 12:45PMState Street Investment Management (SSIM) head of investments for Australia Jonathan Shead will step down next month. Shead will retire on August 28 after spending 26 years with the group, working in various State Street Global Advisor (SSGA) roles since 2000. Shead has been a member of the global portfolio strategy team, covering both equities and currency, and served as head of portfolio solutions for the Asia-Pacific region. In 2018, he was named as head of retirement solutions for Australia and one year later was promoted to the role of Australian head of investments. Before joining SSGA, he was a consulting actuary and senior asset consultant at NSP Buck. "Jonathan has served our organisation for more than two decades. We are grateful for his leadership and the many contributions he has made to our clients and colleagues, and we wish him continued success in his next chapter," a State Street spokesperson said, adding that "we have a thoughtful transition plan in place" and "remain focused on delivering for clients in Australia." Shead has also retired from his directorship duties at State Street Global Advisors, Australia Services effective July 23, and has been replaced by Meaghan Victor who is SSIM's managing director and head of intermediary client coverage for Asia Pacific. Victor joined the SSIM leadership team in 2017, taking on the role of head of SPDR ETFs in Australia. Victor has also led the SPDR ETFs business for Singapore and its Asia Pacific distribution unit. She joined from BT Financial Group where she was national partnership manager. Victor has previously held roles in sales management, strategy and product development at KBC Asset Management and Fidelity International. Last year, State Street Global Advisors officially became known as State Street Investment Management. SSIM currently manages about US$6.3 trillion in assets under management. Related News |
