ASX chief financial officer retiresBY RIDDHIMA TALWANI | MONDAY, 27 JUL 2026 12:00PM![]() ASX chief financial officer Andrew Tobin will retire from his role after four years with the market operator. Tobin joined ASX in 2022 and has led the finance, treasury, strategy and corporate affairs teams through a period of significant change. "During this time, he has strengthened financial discipline practices, supported ASX's strategic and transformation priorities, and provided steady leadership," ASX said. ASX interim chief executive Darren Yip said: "Andrew has made a significant contribution over the past four years as ASX navigated a demanding operating environment." "I would like to thank Andrew for his service, and I am pleased he will support an orderly transition process as he has agreed to continue serving as chief financial officer as we finalise the appointment of a successor." ASX recently announced its next chief executive Anthony Attia of Euronext, the European bourse, will join the market operator on September 1. Yip will be leading the firm until Attia takes over the role. ASX said the appointment of the next chief financial officer will be led by Attia, supported by the board, ensuring the decision is aligned with ASX's leadership transition and future strategic priorities. The bourse has been in the crosshairs of ASIC since last year around its questionable ability to "maintain stable, secure and resilient" market infrastructure, which were brought to the forefront due to disruptions in trading in late 2024. ASX recently admitted that it misled and exposed market participants to financial risk in an announcement related to the delivery of the CHESS replacement project in early 2022, despite realising the delay would occur as early as 21 December 2021. Last week, ASX said it is looking to modernise eight core corporate governance principles, which include rejigging executive remuneration and board composition, to make them fit-for-purpose in the current environment in which ASX-listed entities operate.
