FinCap beefs up treasury capabilitiesBY MATTHEW WAI | THURSDAY, 6 AUG 2026 10:53AM![]() FinCap has welcomed a new member to help scale the firm's private markets managed accounts offering. Akbar Shah has joined the firm as head of treasury and operations, overseeing its cash management, liquidity, funding and special purpose vehicle structures, and will develop the treasury and operational infrastructure underpinning the FinCap Private Market Platform to offer liquidity across multi-manager private markets portfolios, the firm said. Shah brings over 20 years' experience to the fold, most recently serving as chief financial officer at Hume Bank for nearly five years developing the bank's treasury, finance and operations capabilities and was integral to its inaugural investment-grade credit rating. Prior to that, Shah spent much of his career at NAB in senior positions across capital markets, group treasury and corporate and institutional banking. Commenting, FinCap chair Christian Ryan said he was pleased to welcome Shah at an important time for the firm. "Akbar's appointment comes at a pivotal moment for FinCap. As we grow the platform and bring more to market, the strength of our treasury and operational foundations is what allows investors to rely on periodic liquidity and institutional-grade governance," Ryan said. "Akbar's background building treasury and finance functions from first principles makes him the right person to lead that function as we develop." Meanwhile, Shah said he looks forward to expanding and scaling the firm's private markets offering. "What drew me to FinCap is the chance to build a treasury and operations function from the ground up for a platform purpose-built for private markets," Shah said. "Getting the cash, liquidity and funding foundations right is what lets wholesale investors access these assets with confidence, and it is what will carry the platform as it grows." In May, the business welcomed Leanne Bradley and David Wright to its investment committee to strengthen independent oversight ahead of the private markets platform launch. Related News |
