ISS STOXX names chief executive

Virginia 'Ginny' Gomez has been named the new chief executive of ISS STOXX, part of the Deutsche Börse Group, effective August 3.

Gomez will lead the business, which operates across 34 global locations and spanning four businesses: Index, Stewardship Solutions, Corporate and Market Intelligence.

"We are very pleased to welcome Ginny Gomez to ISS STOXX, a critical cornerstone of our Investment Management Solutions proposition at Deutsche Börse Group," ISS STOXX chair and member of the executive board of Deutsche Börse Group Christian Kromann said.

"Her deep expertise in technology, data, and AI together with her client-centric focus is perfectly aligned with our strategy to lead the transformation as a neutral and trusted provider for our industry and our clients. Ginny is the ideal leader to accelerate this vision and drive the next phase of growth."

Prior to joining ISS STOXX, Gomez was with Dun & Bradstreet where she held the role of president of North America. Prior to that, she served as executive vice president of product and portfolio management at TransUnion. She also held senior leadership positions at LexisNexis and PeopleFluent, among others.

"I am honoured to take the helm of ISS STOXX at such an important moment in its evolution. The financial industry is evolving rapidly, and ISS STOXX is uniquely positioned to help its clients navigate this landscape with world-class indexing capabilities, stewardship solutions, market intelligence, and sustainability data," Gomez said.

This comes after ISS STOXX acquired Scientific Beta earlier this month in a bid to expand its presence within the asset owner segment and deepen engagement with large institutional investors. Scientific Beta is known for its research capabilities and its suite of smart beta, climate, and enhanced cap-weight indices.

"I look forward to working closely with ISS STOXX's highly talented global team to accelerate the company's growth and leverage new technologies," she added.

Gomez will take over the reins from Gary Retelny who will step down from his role as president and chief executive after more than 15 years with the company. He will continue to serve as an advisor to the board of ISS STOXX.

"I want to thank Gary Retelny for his leadership. Under his guidance, ISS STOXX has become an undisputed market leader and an essential part of our buy-side ecosystem. I look forward to his continued counsel," Kromann said.

Financial Standard is owned by ISS Market Intelligence, which is part of ISS STOXX.
