Cbus creates new role for legal operations

Cbus has welcomed a legal specialist to join the fund in a newly created role of group head of legal operations and strategy, bringing relevant experience from regulators ASIC and APRA.

Tim Sutton has joined the super fund and is based in Sydney, a spokesperson confirmed.

He brings more than 15 years' experience in legal and regulatory across various financial services businesses, including stints at ASIC as a lawyer and APRA as senior manager of legal.

Most recently, he was the special counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright for over a year and served as head of regulatory affairs at Colonial First State (CFS) between 2019 and 2021, departing shortly after Commonwealth Bank announced that it was selling the majority stake in CFS to private equity investor KKR.

Earlier in his career, he held legal positions at AMP, Miniter Ellison and Black Dawson.

Commenting on his appointment, Sutton said: "Having recently concluded a rewarding stint as special counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright, I'm excited to work with the Cbus team to support strong outcomes for members and support the continued evolution of the legal function."

"Looking forward to the opportunities ahead and to contributing to the continued success of the organisation."

Meanwhile, Joshua Parisotto is set to join the super fund this month as chief member officer after a six-year tenure at HESTA in various C-suite capacities.

He joined HESTA as chief advice officer in January 2020 before taking on broader responsibilities for member engagement, education advice and employer partnerships.

In April, Amanda Hagan was announced as the new chief technology officer, a position that was vacated by former chief information and technology officer Mirella Robinson.

In the same month, Cbus Property, the super fund's direct property investment manager, named Chris Kakoufas as chief executive, replacing Adrian Pozzo who stepped down after 24 years with the business.

The real estate unit also welcomed executive general manager of national development Marina Rofe last month, arriving from Mirvac where she was based for close to 14 years.

"Marina joins us at an exciting time as we continue to strengthen collaboration across our national development management business and build on our strong foundations already in place," Cbus Property said.
