Voting is now open for the 2019 FS Power50, compiling the most influential financial advisers in Australia.
This year, Financial Standard received more than 430 nominations for the FS Power50 and the voting process has now launched with 103 advisers named as finalists.
The shortlist was determined by several criteria, including:
- They have demonstrated long-standing commitment to the financial advice industry through volunteer work via member associations
- They have excelled in their profession as indicated by peer-based recognition, industry awards and/or publicly-available client endorsements
- They have been, and continue to be, instrumental in shaping the financial advice industry. This is based on involvement in industry-wide activities, community-based projects or nationwide initiatives designed to promote the value of financial advice.
Only financial advisers registered on ASIC's Financial Adviser Register as licensed to provide personal financial advice are qualified to proceed to the voting round.
This means any nominations for chief executives of licensees or dealer groups, former financial advisers or those who have influenced the financial planning industry but now work at a fund manager, insurer or third-party service provider have been excluded by Financial Standard.

The Association of Financial Advisers and the Financial Planning Association of Australia were also invited to nominate standout advisers and will participate in the due diligence process that will follow voting.
"The number of nominations show the industry boasts a solid crop of role models who will take financial advice to a wider audience," Financial Standard executive director, media Michelle Baltazar said.
"It is heartening to see that, with all the change and uncertainty the advice community is facing, there are so many that are going above and beyond to demonstrate the power of advice."
