TAL names super fund partnership lead

TAL has named a new partnership leader who will focus on its collaboration with a super fund, replacing Mel Jose, who left in August to join Netwealth after a two-year stint.

Mary Gabriel has joined the life insurer as head of partnership, Aware Super, where she will lead its partnership with the super fund and support the delivery of insurance outcomes for members, TAL said.

Gabriel brings more than 25 years of experience across life insurance, technology and financial services.

She was most notable for serving as head of corporate distribution, group partnerships at MetLife Australia, a company where she's taken on several leadership roles across her 12-year tenure at the company, including chairing both the diversity, equity and inclusion committee and the women's business network.

More recently, she was the head of growth at Workzilla a software-as-a-service company offering legal professionals to enhance financial and people performance. Before joining TAL, she was the head of corporate accounts at Angelo Auto Finance.

She also brings experience from BT Financial Group, American Express and Sydney Futures Exchange earlier in her career.

Gabiel's appointment forms part of TAL's continued investment in strengthening its partnerships capability and supporting positive outcomes for superannuation funds and their members, TAL said.

Commenting, TAL chief executive, group life and retirement Jenny Oliver said Gabriel's appointment will catalyse great outcomes for its members, while deepening its relationship with Aware Super.

"Mary brings deep partnerships experience and strong industry knowledge to TAL," she said.

"She has a strong understanding of the superannuation and insurance sectors and will play an important role in supporting our partnership with Aware Super and the members we collectively serve."
