Two well-known governance experts have joined MGD, a growing boutique financial services firm.
Michael Drew has been appointed as chief investment officer and director and Adam Walk will join the firm as director, investment advisory.
In their new roles, Drew and Walk will both act as advisers to clients of MGD Private which will see them working with family offices and other groups.
"Sound investment governance, fiduciary best practice and goals-based investing are three of the fundamental underpinnings of the day-to-day tailored wealth management advice we provide for our clients," MGD chief executive John Barton said.
"Michael and Adam bring with them years of experience and research along with extensive knowledge in these areas and I have full confidence in their ability to navigate the complexities and create true value for our clients.
"MGD has a long-standing professional association with Michael and Adam and we are pleased to welcome them both to our team."
Drew and Walk are founders of Drew, Walk & Co consulting. Drew is a professor of finance at Griffith University and former managing partner of Stonechat Capital.
Walk is adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame and also a former partner of Stonechat Capital as well as former head of investments at Myer Family Company and an alternate director at Rest.
MGD also announced another appointment - Shane McGarry will step into the role of director, investment advisory.
He will join the firm's investment committee in conjunction with the firm's asset consultants.
"Shane's career success has been built on his deep understanding of the complexities, challenges and opportunities facing ultra-high net worth individuals and families which will prove invaluable," Barton said.
MGD director Stephen Furness said of the appointments: "We are thrilled about the three new appointments and what they mean for our clients, our investment process and the future of our firm.
"These appointments are just the latest step toward realising our ambition to deliver world's best practice in terms of the governance and oversight of both our retail and wholesale investment solutions.
"Fellow MGD directors and our advisory team are also looking forward to Michael, Adam and Shane coming on board."
MGD expanded to Sydney in September, opening an office to cater to its clients in the city.
The office is run by Ronan Zille, formerly principal adviser at Pure Wealth Advisors.
At the time, Barton described the move as a milestone for the firm.
"We have some wonderful relationships in Sydney, and we are committed to providing more support and dedicated service to these clients and advice partners with our new office now in place," Barton said.
