Former ASFA COO joins housing fund managerBY MATTHEW WAI | FRIDAY, 12 JUN 2026 12:07PMThe former chief operating officer of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has joined C1 Capital Group as chief investment and operating officer. Tim Buskens has assumed the role at C1 Capital Group, which is a housing fund manager to deliver sustainable and affordable housing opportunities through partnerships with developers, builders, government, community housing providers and investors while generating strong, resilient returns. He joins from HOPE Housing Fund Management, where he was the chief executive for the past seven years and was the inaugural chief operating officer for ASFA between 2014 and 2017. Bringing over 30 years' experience to his new role, Buskens also held senior titles at ASIC, Link Market Services, and Australian Administration Services. At C1 Capital Group, Buskens will be focused on strengthening its investment strategy, integrating the fund and lending platforms, and building the operational capability required for institutional readiness and national delivery, he said. He is joined by chief executive Tim Gavan, who was appointed last year to steer the initial phase of the business. Sharing his appointment on LinkedIn, Buskens said he is pleased to join the company. "C1 is delivering what Australia needs right now, more homes. Through its scalable, investment-led housing platform C1 is enabling more Australians to attain home ownership while also increasing affordable rental supply," Buskens explained. "Australia needs new system architecture in housing. C1 is one of the few platforms showing how it can be built and I'm energised to help accelerate that work.
