FASEA exam dates revealed

The Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority provided an update on the exam all financial advisers must sit.

The Authority confirmed the December round of exams will be held from December 5-9 in 19 centres across Australia including regional sittings in Townsville, Rockhampton, Mackay, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Gosford, Orange, Wagga Wagga, Bendigo and Geelong.

Registrations for the December exam will close on November 8. There are 2430 advisers already registered for the exam.

The 2020 exam dates have also been revealed with one sitting from February 13-18 and another from April 2-7.

The February sitting will be held in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Townsville, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart, Gold Coast, Wollongong, Cairns, Ballarat, Launceston, Port Macquarie, Traralgon, Tamworth, Townsville and Newcastle.

The April sitting will be available in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Townsville, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Hobart, Gosford, Sunshine Coast, Geelong, Toowoomba, Bunbury, Mackay, Geraldton, Wagga Wagga and Coffs Harbour.

FASEA has provided the FG003 Preparation Guide on its website for advisers to prepare for the exam.

The guide includes a curriculum and reading list as well as practice questions.

Once advisers register for the exams they have access to an online version of the practice questions.

Results from the most recent FASEA exam, held in September, are not yet available. A total of 1697 advisers sat that exam and are waiting for the results.

FASEA said they can expect to find out whether they passed in mid-November this year - "following a comprehensive marking approach and analysis."
