Workplace expert joins Aware Super in new roleBY ELIZABETH FRY | THURSDAY, 30 JAN 2025 2:20PM![]() Aware Super has appointed Breckon Jones to the newly created role of head of growth, talent, and reward. Jones joins the $190 billion superannuation fund from iCare NSW, which manages the insurance and care services to the people, businesses and communities of New South Wales on behalf of the state government. This new role brings together several key responsibilities within the workplace function, all aimed at delivering an enhanced experience for Aware Super's 1,400 employees. Jones will be accountable for reward, talent management and acquisition, succession management, performance, learning and capability, employee engagement and people regulatory governance. At iCare NSW, Jones was the general manager of people & workplace experience. The recruit has held senior leadership roles at several companies, including American Express, Deloitte Australia and Unilever. At Deloitte, he led the APAC gender pay equity strategy which resulted in Deloitte achieving its first Workplace Gender Equality Agency compliance and citation. Aware Super group executive of people and workplace Steve Hill said the role was a pivotal one in Aware Super's new people & workplace operating model, supporting the fund to deliver on its organisational strategy. "I am delighted that someone with Breckon's skills, experience, attitude and values has chosen to join us. I know he will be an invaluable addition to the people & workplace team, the Aware senior leadership team, and the organisation in general," Hill said. Separately, the super fund has welcomed energy industry expert Stephanie McGregor to its direct asset committee. McGregor has extensive executive and regulatory experience in the energy industry, with a particular focus on renewables both in Europe and Australasia. Currently leading consultant TSA Riley's entry strategy into the energy industry, she has held senior roles at AusNet Services, and Energy Networks. The board subcommittee assists the investment committee with research, due diligence and selection of direct assets for the fund, and monitors the performance of these assets post-acquisition.
