L1 Group hires private client leadBY KARREN VERGARA | TUESDAY, 11 AUG 2026 12:33PML1 Group continues its senior executive recruitment drive, appointing a new local head of private clients. Based in Melbourne, Joel Rosen recently joined L1 Group. Private credit fund manager Wingate confirmed Rosen's departure after spending more than two years as co-head of private wealth, and is in the process of actively recruiting for a replacement. L1 Group confirmed the appointment, saying reflects an extension of its direct-to-client sales channel. Before Wingate, Rosen was managing director of Prime Capital Partners, a boutique investment firm focused on deal and capital origination, co-investment, development and financial structuring in various real estate sectors. In June, L1 Group made several senior appointments in a bid to expand its global platform. Chris Ashman was named head of partnerships for North America, responsible for identifying, sourcing and developing strategic joint venture opportunities across the region. He joined from Jaws Estates Capital where he was head of fund investments at the family office of Starwood Capital co-founder Barry Sternlicht. For that region, Jay Sullivan was named director of capital formation. Sullivan leads distribution efforts across North America, previously working in sales and investor relations. Based in London, Dan Riggs is the new head of capital formation for EMEA, responsible for developing and strengthening relationships throughout the region. L1 Group also appointed a new chief financial officer in June. James Allaway succeeds incumbent Andrew Stannard, who will transition to an advisory role ahead of his departure in early 2027. Allaway came from ASX-listed FleetPartners, where he served as chief strategy officer for the past 14 months. He previously worked as an investment banker at UBS and an investment banking analyst at Citi. The group's funds under management jumped by 12.4% during the June quarter to total $19.1 billion post-distribution. The initial public offering of the L1 Gold Fund (ASX:LGF) in April contributed $428 million in net inflows. Net client flows into L1 Long Short strategies and L1 Affiliates were also positive.
