A $33 billion superannuation fund appointed a group insurance expert as its new head of insurance.
Shane Fielding joins Hostplus from insurance broking and consulting firm IFS Insurance Solutions, where he spent nearly 12 years in senior roles.
Fielding joined IFS Insurance Solutions, which was established by Industry Fund Services in 1995, as a group risk consultant. He rose up the ranks to become head of group life consulting services in December 2008.
His 30 years of experience in the life insurance sector includes working across various roles at Mercer, AXA Australia and National Mutual.

IFS Insurance Solutions provides consultation services on insurance, brokerage services and claims advocacy.
This includes group risk insurance, general insurance and group income protection.
According to Rainmaker analysis using APRA data, industry funds experienced the largest net inflows in 2018.
AustralianSuper ($9bn) enjoyed the largest inflows, followed by Sunsuper ($6.7bn), Hostplus ($6.2bn), Equipsuper ($5.4bn) and QSuper ($3.8bn).
This was at the expense of retail funds: MLC Super (-$1.5bn), BTFG (-$1.46bn) and ANZ Wealth (-$1.1bn), which recorded the largest outflows.
