Chi-X Australia has appointed an industry expert to the newly created position of director of technical account management.
Peter Warton steps into the new role form his current position as head of market operations at Chi-X.
Chi-X said the new role will enhance the exchange's client service management and market connectivity capabilities.
Warton's new role will see him drive client service function and technology infrastructure in preparation for Chi-X's predicted future growth.
Warton spent almost a decade at the ASX in a software development capacity before moving to the London Metals Exchange.
He then spent time as head of client services at Actant and head of infrastructure and trading solutions at IMC.
Chi-X chief executive Vic Jokovic said: "Peter's new role demonstrates Chi-X Australia's ongoing growth and continued commitment to providing service excellence and tech innovation."
Warton first joined Chi-X in 2011 and helped the disrupter exchange prepare for entry into the Australian market.
According to his LinkedIn, Warton spent eight months at Chi-X in 2011.
He then spent two years as global head of IT operations at Tibra Capital, before rejoining Chi-X as head of market operations in 2014.
Chi-X refers to Warton as an industry expert due to his over 30 years' experience in financial markets technology and software development in the financial markets industry.
Chi-X experience rapid growth since launch - now accounting for approximately 20% of the Australian market share. Over $1 billion a day is traded in cash and equities on Chi-X daily.
