The $140 billion investment house has hired from Russell Investments' institutional sales team to fill a newly-created executive director role.
Nicki Ashton joined as IFM's head of Australia, global relationship group on September 3.
She will be responsible for IFM's business development and investor relations agenda in the region, the company said in a statement.
In her most recent role, Ashton was a director at Russell Investments, heading strategic partnerships since 2013.

She has over two decades of experience, including roles at Deutsche, BNP Paribas and hedge fund sales at CitiGroup.
IFM recorded $22 billion in net flows in FY19 and reported a net profit of $114 million.
The funds management powerhouse, owned by industry superannuation funds, has increasingly looked to attract overseas investors and about 27% of its $140 billion in funds under management is now from such institutions, it said in FY19 briefing.
The business' valuation crossed $1 billion, up from $869.5 million last year.
