Global X snaps up executive from AMP's North platform

Global X ETFs Australia has poached a senior executive from the AMP-led North platform as the exchange-traded fund provider accelerates efforts to expand its footprint across the country.

Andrew Knight will join the ETF provider as senior business development manager to lead the expansion in Western Australia and South Australia.

Based in Perth, Knight will work with the intermediary client segment, including financial planners, wealth managers and stockbrokers.

Knight's appointment is a sign of the firm's ambitions to increase its presence outside the key markets of Sydney and Melbourne.

It comes one week after the ETF provider appointed Steven Romei as head of operations - hiring from State Street Advisors - and promoted Brianna Fallins to head of finance.

This marks Global X's first appointment based in Western Australia, signalling a significant expansion of our national footprint," said chief executive Alex Zaika.

"Establishing a dedicated presence in the west strengthens Global X's ability to deliver localised service and build deeper relationships with clients and partners in the region, reinforcing its commitment to being a truly national provider of ETF solutions," he added.

"These strategic appointments reflect our ongoing investment in leadership and our commitment to strengthening the infrastructure that underpins every part of our business."

Knight brings nearly 30 years of experience in the finance and investment management industry, having held leadership roles at AMP, National Australia Bank and MLC, in addition to eight years providing wealth advice as a financial planner.

Global X noted his extensive experience in financial services, relationship management and strategic execution.

"Knight brings a core strength in developing culture, leading within complex corporate structures and growing employee capability to drive better client outcomes and commercial success."
