Eaton Vance hired an institutional sales director for its Australian and New Zealand operations.
Ty Thurgood has joined the global asset manager's Australasian arm as director of institutional business development for the local region, which will see him assume responsibility for Eaton Vance's relationship with super funds, private banks, institutional investors and asset consultants in the region.
Thurgood joins the firm after around six years at Nomura Asset Management where he was managing director.
Prior to that Thurgood was head of new business at Russell Investments during a six year stint, which followed four years as head of sales within BNP Paribas' local division.

Thurgood will report to the local chief of Eaton Vance's majority-owned subsidiary Parametric Portfolio Associates, Chris Briant, who said he was delighted to bring Thurgood aboard.
"His [Thurgood's] extensive experience increasing business in Australia with high levels of service and efficiency will ensure we meet client demand and further our commitment to providing deep and comprehensive insights to our clients, as we build customised, advanced portfolios," Briant said.
Late last year Parametric Portfolio Associates division Parametric Australia won a $200 million custom mandate in global equities from an unnamed superannuation fund.
