Commercial property manager hires sales executive

Australian commercial real estate debt and investment manager MaxCap Group has appointed a distribution director based in Singapore.

Chris van Beek joins from UBS Asset Management where he was executive director of real estate and private markets for Asia Pacific.

At MaxCap, Van Beek will be responsible for capital raising with institutional and private investor clients on a global basis. He officially starts in mid-August and is initially based in Singapore.

Van Beek's career commenced at Colliers and CBRE; he spent the last decade in capital raising and investment-related roles, including Aberdeen Asset Management.

He spent the last three years at UBS Asset Management marketing its global real estate, infrastructure and private equity strategies to institutional investors in Asia Pacific.

MaxCap managing director Wayne Lasky said van Beek will play a pivotal role in the firm's growth strategy.

Van Beek said he is looking forward to bringing Australian commercial real estate debt opportunities to international institutional investors.

"MaxCap is an established lender of choice and provides access to sustainable risk-adjusted returns through a range of investment options depending on risk appetite and investment profile," van Beek said.

MaxCap also recently appointed Eddie Law as investment director.

Based in Sydney, Law focuses on the New South Wales, Queensland and ACT markets; he manages relationships with borrowers and corporate, private and institutional investor clients.

Law was formerly the head of institutional property at ANZ. He joined ANZ in 2004 as global head of leasing and structured asset finance. Before that, he was an executive director at Centre RE, joint managing director of Omni Technology Rentals and director leasing and structured tax-based funding at Allco Finance Group.

MaxCap's asset under management stands at $2.3 billion. It has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
