Channel Capital wins distribution mandate

Channel Capital has been appointed by Coller EQT to distribute, promote and service investor support to the two secondaries strategies currently available in Australia.

Under the arrangement, Channel Capital will oversee the responsibilities for the Coller Private Equity Secondaries Fund and Coller Private Credit Secondaries Fund.

The Coller Private Equity Secondaries Fund was made available to local investors in October 2024, aiming to provide exposure to private equity assets through the acquisition of interests in existing private equity funds and portfolios.

Meanwhile, the Coller Private Credit Secondaries Fund invests in private credit portfolios and transactions, providing access to seasoned credit exposures and the potential for income and diversification. The strategy was launched in February 2025.

The partnership will expand access to specialist private equity and private credit secondaries strategies for Australian wholesale investors, supporting growing demand for sophisticated private markets solutions, the parties said.

With global secondaries transaction volumes reaching a record $322 billion (US$226bn) in 2025, the asset class is playing an increasingly important role in helping investors manage diversification, liquidity profiles and provide access to mature underlying assets.

Coller EQT currently oversees approximately $78 billion (US$55bn) across private equity, private credit and other private market strategies globally as at 31 March 2026.

Commenting, Channel Capital co-head of distribution Luke Mandekic said private markets are becoming a more important asset class for diversification.

"Many of the advisers we work with are adopting a more sophisticated approach to private markets, combining complementary strategies to build more diversified portfolios for clients," Mandekic said.

"Coller EQT brings one of the most established secondaries platforms globally, with deep expertise across both private equity and private credit. These strategies offer access to mature private market exposures that can complement traditional allocations and support more deliberate portfolio construction."

The news follows EQT's acquisition of Coller Capital in the beginning of the year.

EQT head of global wealth solutions, Asia Pacific Sueann Yeo explained the rationale behind selecting Channel Capital.

"Globally, we're witnessing growing recognition of the role secondaries can play alongside traditional private market investments," Yeo said.

"Channel's strong position in the Australian market makes it a valued partner to help bring greater awareness and support education, access and long-term adoption of secondaries strategies."

EQT global wealth solutions Asia Pacific director David Hallifax added: "One of the most significant shifts we are seeing is the growing alignment between institutional and wealth portfolios," added David Hallifax, Director, Global Wealth Solutions Asia Pacific at EQT."

"Advisers are increasingly seeking the same diversification benefits that have made secondaries a valuable tool for institutional investors, providing exposure across assets, vintages, sectors and geographies. As private markets allocations increase, we expect interest in secondaries to grow alongside them."

The partnership reflects both firms shared commitment to helping investors access a broader range of private market solutions as the industry continues to evolve.
