Aussie equities manager expands team

A Melbourne boutique expanded its senior ranks with the appointment of a new head of distribution and investor relations.

Collins Street Asset Management has appointed Rob Hay to the role, responsible for engaging with the fund's existing investors, and those who have recently expressed an interest in the fund.

Hay has 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, holding a range of national and state-based distribution, research and advisory related roles, where he worked mostly with a high net worth client base.

He was most recently head of advised distribution at Cashwerkz.

Prior to that, he worked at BT Financial Group and Westpac, the former of which he was at for seven years.

"In an uncertain and increasingly complex time for investment markets it has been pleasing to see solid interest in our high conviction, contrarian approach to funds management," said managing director Michael Goldberg.

He pointed to Collins Street's focus on capital preservation has generated a lot of interest across the market, particularly among high net worth investors, and said they look forward to having Hay on board to support their clients.

Chief investment officer Vas Piperoglou added: "[Hay's] passion for value based investing and truly aligned investor outcomes mirrors the way we manage client money."

"It is exciting to be able to bring our offering to market in earnest with an emphasis on a genuinely ethical and long term approach to wealth creation."
