Women who are standouts in their community contributions have come out on top in the 2019 Female Excellence in Advice Award (FEIA) finalists list.
That's according to TAL general manager retail distribution Niall McConville, who said the finalists stood out for their work in promoting advice to females and encouraging more women to consider financial planning as a potential career.
The awards, supported by the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) and TAL, aims to "promote positive change in the financial advice sector by encouraging more women to enter the industry and take on leadership roles."
The finalists are Felicity Cooper of Cooper Wealth Management, Tracey Ferguson of Ferguson Financial Planning, Dawn Thomas of Wealthwise, and Tabitha Tworek of Insight Wealth Planning.
AFA chief executive Philip Kewin said the award also promotes the broadening of choices available to Australians when it comes to seeking financial advice.
"The aim of the award is two-fold. The first is to encourage more women to enter the industry and take on senior roles. The other equally important aim, is to encourage more women to seek advice so that they can be adequately resourced for retirement and obtaining insurance," he said.
"With more women in the industry, we hope this will be a natural progression."
The winner will receive a $15,000 tailored education package courtesy of TAL, and will be announced at the AFA Conference in Adelaide on 29 August.
Last year's winner was Donna Lee Powell from DLP Life Design, who specialises in helping women facing life-changing events. She started her career in financial services in 1995 and started her own consulting business in 2017.
