Actuaries Institute chief resigns

The chief executive of the Actuaries Institute resigned from his position and will leave at the end of the calendar year.

David Bell joined the Actuaries Institute in 2014, replacing outgoing chief executive Melinda Howes. He was previously group managing director, corporate at Oglivy PR Australia; prior to that, he was general manager corporate affairs and sustainability at Westpac and spent 10 years as the chief executive of the Australian Bankers' Association.

Actuaries Institute president Jenny Lyon said Bell "has been an important part of the Institute and played an instrumental role in building our public profile."

"With his energy and insights, David has helped ensure that the Institute has a voice as a public policy advocate on key reform issues affecting Australian society and our economy such as those in the banking, insurance, health, big data, tax and superannuation/retirement incomes sectors," Lyon said.
