Swyftx confirms executive line upBY MATTHEW WAI | THURSDAY, 3 SEP 2026 11:42AM![]() Swyftx has confirmed its leaders, including its chief executive who served as the managing director at Lazard for nearly a decade previously. Andrea Yuen has stepped into the role of chief executive, while Cathryn Lyall has become the chair after acting in the role since April 2026. Yuen has been the acting co-chief executive and chief financial officer for the crypto platform since January 2025, alongside co-founder and director Alex Harper. Following the change, Harper will step down as acting co-chief executive to resume board duties as executive director. Yuen has 30 years of experience across the financial services sector across Singapore and Australia. Prior to Swyftx, she held executive roles at PwC for over nine years after serving as managing director at Lazard between 2006 and 2015. She also worked at Icon Partners, IRG Limtied, and Lehman Brothers in various capacities earlier in her career. Lyall said the board's decision reflected Yuen's performance over the past several months. "Andrea has made a strong contribution to Swyftx and is the right person to lead the business through its next phase," Lyall said. "The market is changing very quickly with the advent of all-in-one investment apps. Swyftx is no longer a crypto-asset only platform and Andrea's background in leadership roles across different APAC financial centres make her an ideal candidate to lead the business into this new era." Yuen added: "I'm looking forward to leading Swyftx through the next stage of its journey as a regulated platform. It's been a quiet year for the global crypto market and we've deliberately used that period to build, securing our licence, as well as launching leverage trading and loans." "My focus now is on the team and maximising the potential of Swyftx, which is enormous. Over the next few years we expect Swyftx to become one of the country's largest fintechs. "We have a big opportunity to compete with more traditional platforms by using blockchain technology to support in areas like investing and payments." Swyftx was granted an Australian financial services licence in July by ASIC and launched licenced leverage trading in the same month. Related News |
