The Australian share market is expected to open stronger today after a surge in US stocks, partly buoyed by Rio Tinto's $US38.1 billion ($A44.2 billion) takeover for Canada's Alcan Inc. At 0649 AEST on the Sydney Futures Exchange, the September share price index was 62 points higher at 6,430.
