BFA Global heads offshoreBY ELIZABETH FRY | THURSDAY, 12 JUN 2025 2:28PMPrivate assets investment manager BFA Global Investors is expanding into Singapore as the firm looks to capitalise on growing institutional demand across Asia-Pacific markets. The move marks a significant milestone for the investment manager led by Jonathan Belz and Gavin Ezekowitz, who are positioning the firm to find deals in one of the region's key financial hubs. Belz, a former executive at Goldman Sachs and the Victor Smorgon family office, will be relocating to Singapore at the end of July to oversee the firm's regional growth plans. According to Belz, the firm's founder and chief executive, BFA Global is now officially incorporated and approved by Singapore as a fully functioning entity "We've grown BFA from a bold idea in Australia into a platform that partners with some of the world's most sophisticated private market investors," he shared on social media. "As we step into the next chapter, our presence in Singapore positions us to lead - not follow - as Asia-Pacific becomes increasingly central to the global capital conversation." Belz explained that the reasons for establishing a base in Singapore include the ability to execute transactions across global time zones and to create a bridge between Australia, Asia, and the "most compelling" private investment opportunities in the US. "We're not just responding to change; we're stepping forward to help shape what comes next," he added. "For our clients and partners across the region, this means sharper insights, more aligned capital partnerships, and a clear voice in a rapidly evolving global market." Over the last few years, BFA has established relationships with several US managers and family offices and helped high-net-worth individuals invest in at least three high-profile companies: OpenAI, Elon Musk's SpaceX, and the Silicon Valley quantum computing start-up PsiQuantum. "This milestone is about more than access. It's about leadership," said the former head of private investments at the Victor Smorgon Group. Previously, Belz served as executive director at Goldman Sachs in Australia and Hong Kong and at Credit Suisse in Sydney and New York. Related News |
