Insight Investment names chief executive

The global asset management company - which houses £665 billion assets under management - has announced the appointment of a new chief executive following Abdallah Nauphal's decision to retire.

Raman Srivastava has taken on the role and is based in London.

Srivastava brings more than 25 years of senior experience across various financial institutions. He was the managing director and portfolio manager at Putam Investments for more than 13 years before transitioning to Standish Mellon Asset Management Company as its deputy chief investment officer and managing director of global fixed income for five years.

Most recently, he served as executive vice president and global chief investment officer at Great-West Lifeco, where he spearheaded an array of investment, capital market and strategic initiatives. He also held various board positions across the asset management and insurance sector.

Insight Investment considers Srivastava as an "exceptionally well-suited" successor of the retiring chief.

Commenting on his appointment, Srivastava said he is thrilled to join a "world-class" investment firm.

"I look forward to working with Abdallah and the executive team, as well as engaging with my new colleagues, clients and their advisers," he said.

"Leading such a successful organisation into the next exciting phase of its ambitious growth strategy is both an honour and an incredible opportunity."

Meanwhile, the departing Nauphal has held the helm for over 17 years and has been with the business for more than two decades, beginning as its chief investment officer in 2003.

"It is still hard to imagine leaving a business that has been such a large part of my life for so long and I am exceptionally proud of what we have achieved over the last 20 years," Nauphal reflected.

"Having been heavily involved in the process to select a suitable successor over the last year, I know that the business will be in safe hands under Raman's leadership, and I look forward to watching Insight's continued success for years to come."

In the new role, Srivastava will report to BNY global head of investments and wealth Jose Minaya, who has thanked Nauphal for his contribution and is looking forward to having Srivastava on board "in the next exciting phase of its growth strategy."

Additionally, Insight Investment will continue to be an independently managed affiliate investment business wholly owned by BNY.
