Superhero partners for crypto push

Superhero has joined forces with Robinhood's cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp to enter the digital assets market.

The trading and superannuation platform launched Superhero Crypto, allowing customers to buy, sell and hold selected digital assets directly within their existing Superhero portfolios.

The digital assets include Bitcoin, Ether, Dogecoin, Hedera, Chainlink, Solana, Sui, Avalanche and Aave.

Superhero chief executive John Winters said the partnership positions the platform to meet growing customer demand while laying the groundwork for future innovation.

"As the world of digital assets and tokenisation steps into a new phase, this partnership stands us in good stead to not only meet our customers' needs but set a benchmark for the broader ecosystem," Winters said.

For digital assets, Superhero charges 0.10% of the value of each trade. Traders are able to trade 24 hours, seven days a week.

Robinhood finalised its acquisition of Bitstamp by Robinhood for US$200 million in June last year, allowing it to expand outside the US and into Europe, the UK and Asia. The acquisition also created a pathway for Robinhood's first institutional crypto business.

Prior to the takeover, Bitstamp by Robinhood had more than 500,000 retail customers and 5000 institutional ones. Bitstamp has been operating since 2011.

Bitstamp by Robinhood general manager Nicola White said Australia remains an important growth market for digital assets.

"Australia's digital asset landscape is rapidly evolving, and working with trusted platforms is a way to further establish its legitimacy," White said.

"Through this partnership, Superhero Crypto will be able to use Bitstamp's institutional-grade infrastructure to offer their users the best experience available."

This is the first stage of Superhero's broader digital asset push. The platform plans to expand into tokenisation, stablecoins, digital wallets, custody solutions and blockchain-based settlement in the coming years.
