The Advisers Big Day Out (ABDO) has been designed to give advisers an insight into the latest topics from a select group of fund managers in a time effective manner. The ABDO program is delivered to regional & capital city locations across Australia.

The program is Financial Standard's professional development roadshow, attended by more than 2,000 financial advisers around the country each year.

ABDO gives you the chance to network with your peers and hear from Australia's leading fund managers and be kept up-to-date with the diverse range of investment opportunities while gaining CPD hours.

CPD Information
The Advisers Big Day Out (ABDO) is accredited by the Financial Planning Association (FPA) for CPD hours aligned to FASEA learning areas and ASIC Knowledge Requirements.

The Advisers Big Day Out has been accredited by the FPA for the following CPD hours:

In order to claim CPD learning hours, attendees must remain for the entirety of the event and fill in an online or print evaluation available to them on the day.

A CPD certificate will be issued to all attendees who handed in their evaluation within a week of attending ABDO. Membership to the FPA is not required to claim CPD learning hours.

Michael joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2014 and is responsible for managing the institutional and intermediary client channels within Australia and New Zealand. Prior to joining BMO Michael was a Vice President at AQR Australia. He started his career in equities at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and has a Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Applied Finance and holds the CIMA designation. Michael lives in Sydney and supports both the Swans and Waratahs.

Andrew Francis was appointed Chief Executive of Realindex Investments in late 2008. Andrew has 25 years' experience in funds management, consulting and investment banking. Prior to joining Realindex, Andrew worked at Perpetual Investments as General Manager of global equities and Head of Institutional Sales, as well as roles at Mercer Investment Consulting and Macquarie Bank. Andrew has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from FinSia and a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance from the University of New England.

Iain has 11 years' experience in financial services. Iain previously worked within CBA's Wealth Management Strategy team and has held various positions within First Sentier Investors and worked as a Research Assistant at Contango Asset Management. Iain has a Bachelor of Business (Honours) from the University of Technology and is a holder of the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation. Iain has completed his thesis on a conditional model for enhanced value and growth portfolios in the Australian market.

Christopher Davitt is the Fund Manager for the Wholesale Australian Property Fund (WAPF), a direct property fund which caters to retail investors. Christopher joined AMP Capital in March 2010 as a Portfolio Manager, with responsibility for investing a $500 million global mandate to invest in unlisted real estate funds. In September 2010 he became the Portfolio Manager of AMP Life's $1.7 billion property portfolio. Prior to joining AMP Capital, Christopher was a Vice President at MGPA based in London. From 2006 to 2008 he worked on acquisitions and special projects across Europe before being promoted to Assistant Fund Manager and given the responsibility for developing the strategic priorities for MGPA's European funds.

Luis heads up the investment specialist function for the Macquarie Professional Series, developing and delivering relevant investment content for financial advisers, researchers and institutional clients, to help them better support their clients. Luis has 25 years of industry experience. Prior to this role, Luis was a member of the Macquarie Technical Services Team within the Banking and Services Group, as well as a senior member of the Investment Governance Team for the Macquarie Wrap platform. Luis received a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Damien is the Head of Australia, Asia and the Middle East for Independent Franchise Partners, LLP. Damien has 32 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the Firm in 2010, Damien was the as Head of the Australian business for Morgan Stanley Investment Management for six years. Damien received a B.A. in English Literature from La Trobe University, a Diploma in Applied Finance from FINSIA, and an MBA from the University of Melbourne.

Michael is a partner and investor at Independent Franchise Partners, LLP. Michael has 24 years of investment experience. Prior to founding the Firm in June 2009, Michael was Executive Director and a portfolio manager/ research analyst for Global and American Franchise portfolios at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Michael joined Morgan Stanley in 2000 and served as a portfolio manager for global and European equity portfolios before joining the Franchise team in February 2005. Michael received a BComm. and a post-graduate diploma in Management Accounting, both from the University of Natal. He is a CFA(r) Charterholder and a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

He has spent the last 16 years working within the Insurance Bond sector, educating Financial Advisers to help solve client's often complex, tax, estate planning and age care problems using Australia's most flexible investment/tax structure - investment bonds. Richard brings this expertise to Futurity Investment Group to educate and assist advisers in how to use the tax effective Education Bond structure to greater effect in the previously mentioned fields of advice, plus education funding and beyond.

Jason is a Senior Analyst based in our Sydney office, focusing on Australian equities. Prior to joining Milford in October 2020, Jason spent 8 years as a Portfolio Manager and Investment Analyst at Aberdeen Standard Investments focused primarily on the Australian market. During his career, Jason has covered many sectors including real estate, banks, diversified financials, resources, information technology and healthcare. Jason holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Auckland, a MA in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge, and is currently undertaking an Executive MBA from the University of Cambridge. He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Michael joined Milford in January 2017 and is Portfolio Manager of the Milford Dynamic Funds. Previously he spent four years at Macquarie Securities as a Senior Analyst in the Emerging Leaders Research team. Prior to that, Michael was an Analyst at the Global Research House Morningstar. Over the past seven years, his coverage has been varied across a broad range of smaller technology and industrial companies. Michael also worked as a Structural Engineer at Sinclair Knight Merz in Sydney before switching into the funds management industry. He holds a Masters of Commerce and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), both from the University of Sydney.

William joined Milford in 2010 and has been working from Milford's Sydney office since its establishment in 2014. William is the Portfolio Manager of the Australian Absolute Growth Funds and the Milford Dynamic Funds. William is also Co- Manager of the flagship Milford Active Growth Fund. William visits and speaks to hundreds of companies every year and conducts detailed financial analysis to uncover high quality investment ideas. William has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland majoring in Finance and Economics, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Martin Morris is the Australian Head of Distribution and a Director of Praemium Australia Limited. Martin has 29 years of industry experience spanning both Australia and the UK markets, where he has held national roles in both product distribution and AFSL management. Martin has attained his MBA, is a Graduate of the Institute of Company Directors and is an accredited behavioural sales coach. Martin is responsible for mentoring and managing the distribution team to grow the Praemium platform and suite of solutions by helping advisers build more profitable, engaging and sustainable businesses.
