MA Financial eyes acquisition

MA Financial has confirmed it is in talks to acquire IP Generation (IPG), a real estate asset manager with around $2 billion in assets under management (AUM).

"MA Financial has a longstanding relationship with IPG, having provided property management services to a number of its assets since 2019," MA Financial said.

MA Financial also confirmed that should an acquisition proceed; it would not involve an equity raising.

"No binding documentation has been entered into and there is no certainty that these discussions will result in a transaction," MA Financial said.

"The company will continue to keep the market informed in accordance with its continuous disclosure obligations."

This comes after MA Financial entered into a joint venture with Monroe Capital and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) to invest up to $2.6 billion (US$1.7 billion) in senior secured loans to US middle market borrowers.

MA Financial will contribute to the investible capital via its managed funds.

MA Financial Group head of global credit solutions Frank Danieli said the partnership is the "next evolution" in private credit.

"The US middle market presents a compelling opportunity to deploy capital to real world economy businesses while earning strong risk-adjusted returns and benefiting from robust lender protections that are foundational to our credit philosophy. We are excited to unlock access to this opportunity for our clients," Danieli said at the time.

"We're pleased to partner with Monroe Capital and SMBC in this innovative joint venture, reflecting the emerging paradigm shift toward co-lending."
