Industry fund boosts executive team

A $6 billion superannuation fund is boosting its executive ranks in support of its ambitious growth plans.

LUCRF Super announced it made the following appointments to its leadership team in November: executive manager of distribution Chris Deakin; and executive manager of brand and experience Sarah Dennis.

It also named Lynda Cross as a manager of advice and education, while Leigh Gavin's role title has changed from head of investments to chief investment officer.

Deakin was most recently the national manager of workplace and employer super at IOOF. Her experience spans senior managerial, marketing and business development roles, which includes working at First State Super for about six years.

Dennis, who was previously the super funds' general manager of marketing and communications, has been promoted to the newly-created role of brand and experience executive manager. She rejoined LUCRF in early 2018 and has also worked at Cbus.

Cross brings advice, strategic partnerships and wealth education experience to help manage the super fund's advice and education division. She spent 16 years in various leadership roles at Mercer.

Chief executive Charlie Donnelly said it is an exciting time at LUCRF Super.

"We're clear on our purpose: to ensure we help our members achieve financial dignity now, and in retirement. It is imperative that we keep performing at the highest level and enhance our member and employer offering so we can continue to improve and ultimately grow," he said.

Donnelly said in 2018 the fund initiated an ambitious three-year strategic plan with a focus on active member growth and the changes will ensure the fund is well placed to deliver for its members.

LUCRF was established in 1978 and has more than 160,000 members.
