The former director of sales at DWS has joined an international group to lead the introduction of its investment capabilities to the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Munich Re has confirmed to Financial Standard it is bringing its savings and investments business to Australia, to be led by Alex Francois as head of Australia and New Zealand business development, financial solutions.
He will be responsible for the market exploration and regional development of the investment management business as well as bringing Munich Re's reinsurance capabilities to insurers and superannuation funds.
Francois was most recently director of sales, asset management at DWS, having departed last month.
He adds more than 25 years' experience in sales and distribution, having held senior roles with William Blair Investment Management, Principal Global Investors and Schroders.
"Bringing our savings and investment business to Australia and New Zealand alongside our long-standing presence in other reinsurance business lines is an exciting new step for us as a group," Munich Re Financial Solutions' managing director of investment management Moritz Seibert said.
