Fund manager hires new institutional head

An $11.7 billion investment manager has responded to increased domestic and international demand by appointing a new national manager for institutional business from AMP Capital.

Ausbil's new national manager for institutional business is Camilla Skalberg, who was most recently a portfolio manager in tailored investment solutions at AMP Capital, working with institutional clients.

Skalberg spent just under four years at AMP Capital, including one year as head of research houses before stepping into the portfolio manager role.

In her new role, Skalberg will be responsible for existing and new relationships with institutional clients and consultant relations.

Prior to her time at AMP Capital, Skalberg was at institutional investment manager Wellington Management where she was director, head of product for Asia Pacific.

She also spent 10 years at Pendal/BT Financial Group in various director roles including head of wholesale business development and consultant relations.

According to her LinkedIn, Skalberg was head of business development unit trusts, super and pensions at AXA from 1997 to 1999.

Ausbil head of distribution Mark Knight said: "Camilla brings significant institutional experience to the role and a wealth of knowledge in multi-asset investing."

"We are delighted to welcome her to the team. We have a long, proven track record in Australian equities. Institutions also like the fact that Ausbil has embedded one of the leading ESG research teams in its operations."

Ausbil is keen to deepen its existing relationships and develop other relationships with its expanded investment capabilities in active dividend income, global small caps and global infrastructure, he added.

"Her technical expertise will help build our momentum and further develop our institutional footprint across the market," Knight said.
