First Sentier bolsters responsible investment team

First Sentier Investors grew its responsible investment team with the appointment of a former Sustainalytics executive.

The global investment manager appointed Kate Turner as a responsible investment specialist in its Sydney-based team. Her appointment will support the firm's investment teams as the business communicates its approach and progress integrating responsible investment.

Turner was previously associate director of ESG researcher Sustainalytics, and led the firm in Australia and New Zealand. Earlier, Turner served ICBC Standard Bank in the UK.

Turner will report to First Sentier's London-based global head of responsible investment Will Oulton, who welcomed her appointment as the firm continues to grow its capability and reputation in responsible investment.

"Kate will play an integral role in supporting our investment teams, and working with our clients and other stakeholders in Australia and New Zealand," Oulton said.

"The investment teams' commitment to incorporating ESG principles across their processes and strategies is central to their investment approach, and underpins our corporate identity.

Oulton added First Sentier's strategic approach to responsible investment focused on enhancing the quality and relevance of its investment capabilities for the benefit of clients.

"This approach is rigorously informed by over a decade of experience in striving to understand how ESG issues impact long-term investment returns," he said.
