ETF Shares to bolster sales teamBY ELIZABETH FRY | THURSDAY, 5 JUN 2025 2:25PM![]() Australian exchange-traded fund start-up ETF Shares will accelerate its push into the local market following the appointment of Will Taylor as chief operating officer. Taylor, who landed from Global X, will report to chief executive Cliff Man and oversee portfolio management, fund operations and trading, with primary responsibility for ensuring the company's ETFs track their underlying indexes and meet investment objectives. Taylor's appointment forms part of ETF Shares' broader expansion, with three additional distribution hires planned over the next eight weeks. Man said the appointments include a head of New South Wales and two adviser engagement specialists, all currently serving non-compete periods and gardening leave with previous employers. "There are no intellectual property laws in financial services - your edge is your people," Man said. "For every role, we aim to hire the best possible talent to build a strong team." The hires reflect ETF Shares' focus on financial advisers, planning groups and stockbrokers - its core client base. The ETF provider aims to strengthen relationships with intermediaries who Man believes need a better understanding of ETF offerings in an increasingly sophisticated market. "The ETF landscape in Australia is evolving rapidly, and investors are becoming wiser by the day," Taylor added. "They're demanding greater choice, clarity, and value. I'm excited to join a team that is not only responding to this shift but also leading it.""We're not just launching products-we're building a platform for smarter, more accessible investing. It's a rare opportunity to help shape the future of financial services from the ground up." ETF Shares - the first new index ETF issuer to launch in Australia in over a decade - began trading in May and has already accumulated $20 million in assets under management Despite the market growing at a 30% CAGR, it remains highly concentrated, with only seven index ETF issuers. Taylor brings international experience from roles at Franklin Templeton and Schroders in London before moving to Australia. He joined ETF Securities in 2021 asa portfolio manager, working alongside investment strategist David Tuckwell, who has since joined ETF Shares as chief investment officer. The trio previously held senior roles at Global X ETFs, with Man serving as head of portfolio management and Tuckwell leading the product, strategy, and research team. Related News |
