I thought it was only by pure luck I was able to preserve my super amount by choosing Diversified Fixed Interest as an option during the GFC. However Bonds and Term Deposits have proved to be a good strategy for protecting my fund balance since establishing the SMSF and even given a better return than Industry / Retail Funds. Controlling your own financial destiny does have rewards apparently.
