I'm still struggling to see the equity in a system that attempts to encourage preparations for a self-funded retirement, but then installs caps to ensure that personal tax revenues are strong. And I'm flabbergasted to see any talk of 'social equity' through contribution caps when in reality it's a tax grab regardless of the longer-term effects. A contribution cap is not a bad thing, but when it's set at ridiculously low levels it simply serves to encourage people to trust that the limits are adequate to fund a retirement, which they are not. The lower contributions caps in my view are a terrible policy that is more about backdoor agendas relating to tax revenue than any social inequity or genuine interest in providing adequate retirement funding.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
