The Climate Institute has operated a disclosure project for Australian superfunds for three years regarding their climate risk disclosure strategies. Getting information from funds is very difficult. The industry has had many opportunities to volunteer disclosure but overall has either resisted voluntary disclosure of material data or actively worked against it. In such a scenario, it seems regulated disclosure is the only sensible way forward.
However, it isn't just about portfolio construction as we still need to know risk management strategies, incentives for managers and in the case of climate change, what their strategies are for managing systemic risks such as market repricing events (eg like the inevitable future rapid carbon repricing event).

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.

Can't imagine why the primary consideration here wouldn't be providing information to members about what is actually held by the fund.
Too much secrecy from those who in public are all about transparency and disclosure.

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
