Be careful you don't trip over your double standards Gerry!
The majority of the fossil fuel infrastructure in Australia (and around the world) was built by the public sector, and even as recently as 2007 the IEA estimates global fossil fuel subsidies at around $557 billion. http://www.iea.org/files/energy_subsidies.pdf
Add to that the fact that fossil fuels cause massive environmental and public heath impacts (from mine to tail pipe/powerplant) which result in costs that are not being paid for by the miners/generators and you have an even bigger subsidy. See:
http://chge.med.harvard.edu/programs/ccf/documents/MiningCoalMountingCosts.pdf
http://chge.med.harvard.edu/publications/documents/oilfullreport.pdf
So you should do some research and ask yourself who exactly is getting a free ride here?

Reply to article

For original story, Click Here.
