The Australian Council of Super Investors (ACSI) has released two new guidelines for managing environmental, social and governance risks.
The two guides are entitled ‘A guide for superannuation trustees on the consideration of environmental, social and governance risks in listed companies', and ‘A guide for fund managers and consultants on the consideration of environmental, social and governance risks in listed companies'.
"ACSI's guidelines aim to provide assistance to superannuation funds wishing to incorporate ESG into their investment decision-making processes," said Ann Byrne, chief executive of ACSI.
"This is done by presenting practical solutions for establishing a policy framework and integrating ESG risk management across the entire investment chain."
The revised guidelines provide recommendations which are of direct relevance to superannuation trustees, as well as additional tools and materials to assist trustees to implement the guidelines.
Complementary guidelines have also been developed to provide suggestions and expectations for asset consultants and fund managers.
