Lonsec awarded three Ashton Advisers-Paulson & Co funds a ‘recommended' rating.

The Ashton-Paulson Recovery fund, Ashton-Paulson Credit Opportunities fund and the Ashton-Paulson Event Driven fund all received the Lonsec rating.

Although the funds have only been open on the Australian market since May 2009, Lonsec recognised the underlying Paulson funds have a longer track record of high performance.

"The investment team headed by John Paulson is considered to be highly experienced. Most investment staff have investment banking and legal backgrounds well suited to the bottom-up highly analytical research required in the funds," said the Lonsec report.

"Paulson gained widespread publicity during the global financial crisis by correctly positioning the firm to take advantage of the fallout in the subprime housing market."
