Joy Palmer, the chairperson of South Australian super fund Statewide passed away on, Monday, November 17, after a dignified and determined battle with breast cancer.
Statewide chief executive officer Frances Magill paid tribute to Joy's contribution to the fund's growth and to the superannuation industry.
Palmer served as a director at Statewide for the last eight years. She was chairperson between 2000 and 2003, and from 2006 to date.
"Joy made a significant contribution to the fund and the industry, particularly in the areas of governance and sustainability, and has built a strong foundation for Statewide to build on in the years ahead," said Magill.
"She will be sadly missed by everyone at Statewide. Our thoughts are with her family."
Palmer is survived by her husband, Peter, and their son, Matt.
