The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees has appointed Cate Wood as its new president, replacing Gerard Noonan who will become deputy president, after completing the maximum two year tenure as the Institute's president.
A current director of Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) and chair of the national Women in Super network, Wood is also deputy chair of Care Super, a member of the ACT Treasury Investment Advisory Board and chair of the AIST education committee.
She is a former chief executive of AGEST and was a member of the AGEST Super Board until April 2011.
"Cate's wide and varied experience in superannuation - as well as her commitment to the not-for-profit ethos and improving super adequacy for women - made her an ideal AIST president," said Fiona Reynolds, chief executive of AIST.
Noonan, who is also chair of Media Super and president of the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI), will continue to play an active role at AIST as chair of the Institute's policy committee and as deputy-president.
Reynolds thanked Noonan for his invaluable contribution to AIST during his two year tenure as AIST president and said the Institute would benefit from his ongoing involvement and expertise in key policy areas such as governance.
