The trading and investment platform has created a new role to provide trading ideas and insights of Australian markets to Saxo's global sales trading team.
Eleanor Creagh has been appointed to the Sydney based role, reporting to Saxo's group chief economist and chief investment strategist Steen Jakobsen, and chief executive of Saxo Capital Markets Australia, Ben Smoker.
Creagh previously held senior roles at securities and derivatives broker JB Markets, and earlier worked as a relationship manager for wealth management advisory firm KnowledgebankIQ.
Australian equities will form the initial focus for Creagh, before her remit expands to include Asia Pacific equities. According to Saxo, Creagh will hold responsibility for co-ordinating, monitoring and implementing equity strategies and research for both investors and traders. Additionally, Creagh will develop quantitative models and customised mathematical frameworks for Saxo's institutional clients.
Saxo Capital Markets Australia chief executive Ben Smoker said clients' appetite for deep market insights motivated the creation of the role.
"Our clients are always looking to gain deeper insights into what drives markets and where the opportunities are," Smoker said.
"We are pleased to have Eleanor on board. She is an expert in her field, who will no doubt add significant value to Saxo's global sales trading team, helping local traders and investors find signals amid market noise."
The appointment follows Saxo's April launch of active trading platform SaxoTraderPRO. The new platform is designed to allow traders and institutional investors at small and medium-sized funds to operate with the capabilities of larger institutions.
