Shadforth Financial Group has hired a general manager and a senior private client adviser, both Queensland-based, as the planning group continues to search for other firms and advisers to join its ranks.

Former head of advice at Tynan Mackenzie, John Barton, joins the firm as general manager for Queensland. He has also been given a role in national client development as well.

Barton was responsible for advice delivery and business development across Tynan MacKenzie's six national practices. Previously, he worked at IPAC Securities.

Meanwhile, Trent Daly was appointed senior private client adviser in Queensland. Daly has more than 17 years experience in financial planning and banking.

Nick Bedding, chief executive at Shadforths, the appointments heralded the next phase of the group's strategy with a number of other senior appointments to be announced in the next few months.

The group has more than $8 billion in client funds and employs over 300 staff in 14 locations across the country.

"We have come a long way via our ‘best advice' project to streamline our systems and back-office processes as well as developing significant enhancements to our client service offerings," said Bedding.

"This process has placed us in a unique position to develop as a premier provider of financial advisory services across the country."
