Helen Troup, ING Australia's executive director of Life Risk, has been promoted as the first Australian chief executive of ING New Zealand.

Paul Bedbrook, regional chief executive of ING Asia Pacific said Troup was promoted to the role after driving revenue growth at ING's insurance business OneCare over the past four years. Under her helm, ING Australia's in force premium market share in retail sales risk jumped from the sixth rank to the top spot.

“In the past four years, Helen and her team successfully launched the market leading OneCare product, and significantly improved Life Risk's customer service offering, culminating in Group Risk being voted No. 1 for service in 2007 by NMG," he said.

Troup joined ING in 2001 and was appointed executive director for ING Australia in 2004.

Starting her new role at ING NZ on 11 July, Troup will be replacing outgoing chief executive Marc Leiberman.
