An expansion of the executive lineup at AIA Australia has seen the appointment of a new chief financial officer and the creation of two key new roles.
Formerly chief financial officer, Harry Efthimiou has taken on the newly created role of chief health insurance officer, a new position specifically designed to provide support for AIA's business opportunities in Australia and New Zealand's life and health insurance markets.
Efthimiou is replaced by Michael Chernov as chief financial officer. Chernov, who has been with AIA since 2009, is a qualified actuary with over 18 years' experience in life insurance and has also held roles with Deloitte and Trowbridge Consulting.
AIA Australia has also created a chief strategy officer role for Australia and New Zealand, charging Tim Tez with overseeing strategy, corporate affairs and government relations. Formerly chief product and marketing officer at MetLife, Tez has also previously served as an executive at AXA and TAL, and was chief marketing officer for AIA Australia between 2009 and 2014.
AIA Australia and New Zealand chief executive Damien Mu said he is delighted to have Efthimiou, Chernov and Tez in their new roles.
"These members of our executive team are an excellent example of how we in AIA continually support our employees to grow professionally and personally with us. Tim, Harry and Michael are all well known to the AIA family, and each of them has played an instrumental role in delivering the significant growth we have achieved over the last few years," Mu said.
"I know that they will use their deep industry knowledge and experience to capitalise on positive momentum from the recent past and take AIA's business in Australia and New Zealand to the next level."
